Why visit a Forest School?

Ermine Primary Academy children have enjoyed visiting Doncaster Forest School for the past two years and all the staff comment on what a valuable experience it is for all the children who have taken part in this brilliant day.

The children’s reactions speak for themselves – smiles all round, new friendship groups are created and extended as they have to assist

and rely on each other, encouraging others to be resilient and find solutions, and to find alternative ways if their first ideas are unsuccessful. Every child finds that they have to become involved as they get caught up in the excitement and there is a wonderful sense of shared team success when they step back to absorb their achievements. The teachers are always amazed at the quietest child in the group who finds the confidence to become the team leader as the tasks unfold during the day.

Staff said that they enjoyed watching all the children grow in confidence throughout the day and they got so much out of the different activities that they will be talking about it for weeks to come.

So, what did year 3 get up to this year?

Den building, making traps, toasting marshmallows and popping corn on the fire were the children’s highlights from this year, however the staff at High Melton will create a tailor made day for you.

We’re already looking forward to planning next year’s visit!
