As always, Ermine Primary Academy Summer Term is packed full of exciting events and sports fixtures and once again we are proud of the efforts f everyone involved.
First of all, a huge thank you for those who took part in Sports Day week in June. It was wonderful to see so many parents joining in in a positive manner, supporting and cheering on your own and other children was brilliant to see! The weather was (for once) glorious which only added to our already excellent atmosphere. A big thank you to Ermine Friends Group for providing the refreshments and their traditional delicious strawberries and cream!
In week 3 of this term, we took part in a marvellous week of educating our students about Health and Well-being. Each class took part in daily sporting activities, trying out sports such as tri-golf, ultimate frisbee, kwik cricket, fencing and much more! Each class completed a daily mile walk/jog/run. Students were taught about the importance of both physical and mental health and well-being, as well as completing SRE lessons and the importance of keeping clean and being hygienic. Key Stage 1 students were also treated to a wonderful workshop from Lincolnshire Road Safety about how we can be super safe when crossing the roads! A big thank you to all the staff members who provided their skills and knowledge for all the different sports.
In June, EPAFC took some year 4 and 5 students to Sincil Bank to take part in a tournament. We lost our first game due to some nervous play, however, we won our next 3 games in a row, followed by a draw and finishing on a narrow 1-0 loss which unfortunately knocked us out of the tournament. The future looks bright for our team!
This term Year 5 and 6 played their remaining two league fixtures, beating Reepham 6-3 and unfortunately losing out to a strong Westgate side. EPAFC entered two leagues this year, we finished 3rd in the Synergy League and 6th in the Central Lincoln League. A solid effort from our squad, who have shown marvellous resilience, sportsmanship and determination all year, even when results haven’t been going our way.
We want to congratulate Birchwood Primary FC for winning the Lincoln League, a marvellous achievement which you should be rightly proud of! We are already looking forward to playing in next year’s league!
This term Mr Hobson and Mrs Sale travelled to Gainsborough where Year 6 took part in their first rounders tournament. We placed 4th out of 8 after narrowly losing the 3rd place playoff, a great achievement that our team should be rightly proud of.
Earlier in the term Mr Sale and Mr Hobson took our Year 6 Kwik Cricket team to a tournament in Gainsborough. After losing our first game, morale was low; however after an inspirational team talk by Mr Sale, we found the determination and drive to succeed. A handful of wonderful wins later we found ourselves in the final! Unfortunately, we narrowly lost out to Scotter Primary, but a wonderful achievement nonetheless.
